Response to Covid-19 - UPDATE

16/03/20

We continue to risk assess our response to the current situation regarding Covid-19. I know you will be aware that this is a dynamic situation and that all of our parents are concerned for their children – we have had a number of emails and phone calls this morning asking whether their children should be kept off school.

My response continues to be that we follow government guidelines and that absence should be linked to the criteria for self-isolation. Our priority has to be the core business of the school which is teaching young people. This means doing everything possible to keep the adults fit and healthy in school – so anything we can do to cut down on social contact should be done. Therefore, I have just spoken to the Chair of Governors and asked for his agreement in cancelling all school events that would increase adult social contact. This includes Parents’ Evenings. This week we have Year 10 parents’ evening on Thursday which I have decided to postpone with the intention of rearranging at an appropriate point in the Summer term.

I will update the website on a daily basis. Please rest assured that we have developed contingency plans to enable students in all year groups to access work should we be forced to close.
