IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ11/03/20
I have had a number of enquiries from parents linked to the current situation with the Coronavirus. Our approach to whatever may happen in the coming weeks and months will be based on advice given by Public Health England, the Department for Education and our own specific risk assessments when required. We will not be taking any action that is not evidence based and reasonable.
Indications are, from the Chief Medical Officer, that in the next 2 weeks anyone exhibiting signs of flu or a cough should self-isolate – this is not the position currently but we will be following this advice when we are advised to and it will apply to students and staff. It is also possible that at some point we will be asked to close the school – and this will apply to all schools. We have found this link useful in getting daily updates:
At present we have no certainty regarding how the virus will spread in England. However, if you have children whose time in school may be affected by school closure or illness/self-isolation absence I would ask you to do the following:
- Check that you can access Google classroom from the school website.
- Ensure that your child has access and knows their username and password to websites including; Seneca, BBC Bitesize, GCSE Pod, Active Learn, My Maths, Timetable Rockstars.
- Ensure that your child has a place at home where they can continue to study in the event of an absence or school being closed.
The above is important for all students but especially those who are 6½ school weeks away from the exam season. Hopefully it won’t come to this but it is always wise to be prepared.
