Headteacher Update 28th January 2022

28/01/22Headteacher Update 28th January 2022

Dear Parent

I hope you are well.

You will be aware that the requirement to wear face coverings in schools has now been removed. A number of students and staff continue to wear their face coverings and we will always support those who make that choice. Our positive case numbers of Covid-19 continue at a relatively low level but if we do have a spike in numbers we may be advised by the Cheshire West Public Health team to reintroduce face coverings.

We have worked very hard in ensuring that our extra-curricular offer has remained as strong as possible over the past two years and one of the positives of the restrictions being lifted is that extra-curricular activities between schools can continue.  A number of students have taken part in inter school competitions this week, including Football tournaments for Year 7 girls and boys, a Year 8 Netball Festival and a Year 10 Basketball match.  Please look at our extensive extra-curricular programme on the website and encourage your child to take part in one of the range of activities on offer.

Assessments for students in Years 7 - 10 are now completed and we are in the process of marking and feeding back to them; parents will receive information on progress in the last week of this half term.

And finally…during lunchtime yesterday one of our Year 8 students asked me who I would be if I could be a Disney character. A discussion followed which proved to me that I am completely out of touch with the modern world of Disney. I’ll give you my two answers next week – I’m sure this is also a serious conversation you might like to have at home!

In Caritas et Veritas,

Mike Holland
