Headteacher Update 23rd April 2021

23/04/21

Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope this email finds you well at the start of the new term.

  • YEAR 11 LEAVING DATE

We are now in a position to confirm that Year 11 students will officially leave us on Friday 28th May following their final English Language assessment. We are working on the detail of celebrating their time here and will communicate this to you in due course. A very limited number of Year 11 students may be required to attend for some specific support reasons after the half term holiday and again we will communicate this to specific families nearer the time.

  •  IMPACT OF LOCKDOWN EASING ON SCHOOL ACTIVITIES IN JUNE AND JULY

With the Covid-19 vaccination rollout and data moving in the right direction we have started to make provisional plans for activities in late June and early July such as Sports Day. I am sure that you will understand that we cannot confirm these events will take place until we are sure that the timetable for the easing of Lockdown remains on target.

  • PARKING/TRANSPORT TO SCHOOL

I am sorry to say that we have had some issues with parents parking unsafely in the bus bay/service road area after school this week. I know that the vast majority of parents park responsibly but I should remind those who do not that we reserve the right to restrict access to this area of the campus if we feel this is necessary. Please be considerate with your parking.

We have also been asked to remind all parents of the national guidance regarding the safe travel of students to and from school:

  • if you live a short distance from your school or college, walk, cycle or scoot to and from school wherever it is possible and safe to do so
  • avoid sharing a car with anyone outside of your household or support bubble
  • if you are using public transport, plan ahead and allow more time for your journey
  • when you are travelling by public or dedicated school transport, don’t forget to:
    • wear a face covering (unless you are exempt).?It is important ?you wear them for the entirety of your journey, including inside a bus or train station
    • social distance where possible
    • wash or sanitise your hands regularly
    • be considerate to fellow passengers and staff.

I hope you are able to enjoy the good weather this weekend.

In Caritas et Veritas,

Mike Holland
