Headteacher Update 1st February 202201/07/22
I hope you are well.
We took the decision to cancel Sports Day today and move it to Monday. At the time of writing it has just started to spit with rain!
On Wednesday of this week I attended one of my favourite events of the school year – our summer Music Concert. We had over 60 students performing a very eclectic mix of styles and at varied points in their own musical education. As ever, this event was a joy to behold and particular thanks go to the performers and Ms Philippou and Mr Thompson (amongst others). The event also proved the adage that old music is best – this was despite the complete lack of anything from OMD, Keane or Kings of Leon! Or Kate Bush.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming 230 Year 6 students for their induction days next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This will be the first time in 3 years we have been able to hold this event in July and we know there will be a lot of excitement as well as a little anxiety. I am very confident that our current students will ensure that our new arrivals get a very warm welcome.
And finally… I have a new hat. It is navy blue and goes very well with a couple of my suits. It was a Father’s Day present from my two (now adult) children and it was very poorly wrapped. The bonus was two bars of my favourite chocolate lurking in the hat – much preferable to marmalade sandwiches in my view. In fact, I’m fairly confident that the chocolate was the idea of my children, whereas the hat may have appeared by magic from the Amazon elf.
Have a good weekend – I really hope it’s dry on Monday for Sports Day!
