Headteacher Update 19th March 2021

Dear Parent/carer,

I hope you and your families are well.

After today, we will have 9 school days until the Easter break; we return on April 19th. Although the current national Lockdown is easing incrementally between now and the end of June, we do not expect our Covid-19 procedures and processes in school to change for some time yet. In fact, there are a number of changes we have made which we will consider maintaining in future. One of these is online Parent’s Evenings – we had another very successful Year 10 Parent’s Evening yesterday. In the summer term we will carry out parental and student questionnaires asking for views on this and other aspects of school life.

I do hope that parents of Year 11 students have had the chance to watch the presentation we sent on Tuesday regarding Teacher Assessed Grades. The feedback we have received has been very positive and we continue to be very impressed with the approach shown by the Year 11 students in preparing for their mini assessments over the next eight school weeks. The presentation is still available on the following link:

A number of students and parents have asked us about an official Year 11 leaving date. We cannot confirm this until we have clarification from the DfE but we will share the date with you as soon as we are able.

It is a year now since the start of the first Lockdown and it was exactly a year ago today that I was telling you that one of my shoes had fallen apart in the midst of preparing school for life in a global pandemic. I am very pleased to tell you that my current shoe situation is sound; but I never dreamt that a year later I would have reached page 138 of my word document of parental emails/updates.

In Caritas et Veritas,

Mike Holland
