Headteacher Update 17th September 2021

Dear Parent

I hope you are well. You will be very pleased to see a briefer than usual email today.

I must start by thanking so many of you for allowing your children to attend Open Afternoon yesterday. This is always an important day for any school and it is our students who our prospective families want to speak to and meet. This was the first time in a long time that students have been able to represent their school in such a way and they were a real credit to you.

The big story this week (to my surprise) has not been a 4 match unbeaten run by my mediocre League 2 football team or a change in personnel as Secretary of State for Education. It is the decision by the government to offer Covid-19 Vaccinations to 12 – 15 year olds nationally.

All schools are requested to act as centres for a number of vaccinations by the NHS and these vaccinations are given to children whose parents give permission for their child to be vaccinated; the same approach will be applied to Covid-19 vaccinations.

We do not yet have final dates/details for vaccinations at Hartford and they will be communicated to you as soon as we do in the usual way. We will also be hosting Flu vaccinations later in the year.

  • Year 11: We have had a very successful start to Period 6 this week; this initiative will continue every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for the rest of the academic year.
  • Year 10: All parents have been invited to an online Information Evening on Thursday 23rd September which starts at 6.00pm.

In Caritas et Veritas,

Mike Holland
