Headteacher Update 15th January 2021

15/01/21

Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope you are well.

MASS TESTING IN SCHOOL

I am delighted to say that we have a very effective Mass Testing system set up in school this week. Including both staff and students we have now carried out 170 tests. In particular I would like to pass on my thanks to the staff team involved in setting up and administering the system. It is a real credit to everyone involved.

REMOTE LEARNING

Thank you for your ongoing support for this; we continue to be well pleased with the engagement and application of our young people. A couple of parents have raised the question of how much screen time is involved for their children during the day as they carry out their work online. I must tell you that staff feel the same! We will continue to tweak what we do but for the moment we cannot see a lasting solution so long as learning remains online. Sorry.

BIRTHDAY CARDS FOR YEAR 7 AND 11 STUDENTS

Most of you will be aware that students in their first and final year at Hartford receive a Birthday Card from me. So far this academic year I have been able to hand deliver the vast majority of these on the day of the big event. Current circumstances mean that we now have to rely on the postal system; please bear with us as we try to get cards to students punctually.

So a very short email this week. It is possible to have too much of a good thing apparently!

In Caritas et Veritas,

Mike Holland
