Headteacher Update 13th May 2022

Dear Parent

I know that you will all support me in wishing our Year 11 students well with their GCSE examinations starting next week. This is the first time since the summer of 2019 that 16 year olds have taken external examinations and I must say that they have acquitted themselves so well in their studies. The weekly assembly with Year 11 held today will be their last assembly until they attend their Leavers’ Assembly on Thursday 23rd June. Their Prom is on Friday 1st July and then results day is Thursday 25th August.

I have attached a document for parents about navigating the exam season with your child; I commend it to all parents.

You have received a letter from Miss Naylor this week regarding summer uniform, care of our skin in the sun and the importance of hydrating in the warmer weather. Please discuss this with your children.

In Mathematics news I can tell you that Year 9 Students - Zoe Broughton, Sophie Carr, Thomas Holden and Carter Thomas have successfully made it through to Stage 2 of the Edge Hill University Mathematics Challenge. Stage 1 involved a selection of questions which promoted teamwork, communication skills, problem solving, presentational and written skills. Congratulations to these students and good luck for Stage 2.

Next week I want to tell you all about our brilliant English curriculum but finally

I have acquired more water pistols this week from some very disappointed Year 11 boys. After lamenting the quality of the item that came into my possession last October I must say that I am very impressed with this batch: minimal leakage and forceful water power. As a precaution I have bought up the whole of the remaining stock in the local establishment that was responsible for the sale of these items. Enjoy your weekend.

In Caritas et Veritas,

Mike Holland
