Headteacher Update 11th February 202211/02/22
I hope you are well.
The NHS vaccinated 200 of our students on Monday and Tuesday in school – a combination of first and second jabs; thank you for your support with this. A huge number of students were unable to have their jabs in school either because they had already had their second jab locally or they had had Covid recently and so were not eligible. Student and staff absence remains above average at the moment and hopefully we will begin to see a downturn before half term which is then sustained in the run up to Easter.
We have received information this week regarding what topics we might see on GCSE papers this summer in a number of subjects. We will ensure that this informs our teaching appropriately in the run up to examinations. Further Practice Examinations start for Year 11 students on Friday 18th February and continue after half term.
I need to make the usual termly reminder regarding dropping off and picking up students. Please:
- Drop off and pick up well away from school
- Consider our students and neighbours by always parking safely and considerately
- Do not park in the bus bays
- Do not park in a way that restricts two way traffic on the campus roadway
CW&C Local Authority is currently undergoing an inspection of its SEND provision. If you would like to contribute your views to this inspection, please access the following link:
And finally…as part of our Careers guidance, Mr Williams has asked all of the staff to produce a personal profile which includes all of the jobs we did before taking on our current roles at Hartford. This has been a really enjoyable exercise for colleagues and I know that many of the children are finding them interesting. I am very proud to say that (amongst other things) I have been a History teacher, a paper boy and a girth maker (back in the late 60s and early 70s my mum used to make these at home and I used to love helping her). I may even have mentioned my role as a Jedi Knight but I have to keep that secret!
