Harvest Giving

14/10/21Harvest Giving

How blessed we have been to receive so much food and other resources due to the very generous donations of our students at Hartford CofE High School this year (this picture shows only a fraction of it!). We made it into a competition and as a result, we collected a staggering 410.9 kg of food – that’s the equivalent of 11-12 average sized Year 7 pupils.

Last year Mid Cheshire Foodbank gave out 8692 emergency 3 day food parcels to families in crisis, 3392 being households with children… and sadly the need is rising. What a joy it has been to donate this food, each item meaning one of our neighbours will not have to go to bed hungry.

More than giving food, this act of practical love at a time when so many have hit rock bottom, restores their hope. As such, let us keep on showing God’s love to those around us, for as the Bible says, “When did we see you hungry and feed you or thirsty and give you a drink?” Jesus replied… “What you did for the least of these, you did for me.” Matthew chapter 25 verses 37, 40.
