God is Bigger!19/03/20
Every once in a while something major happens. Some have faced floods and fires, earthquakes and more. Today, everyone is talking about it, in the shops, the classrooms, the street. The word ‘coronavirus’ is on everyone’s lips and many are feeling fearful for their family, their friends and their finances. Brought up by grandparents who were married in 1939 when WW2 broke out I heard many stories of the adversities they faced. Adversities that brought communities together, sharing the care, the work load, even the food. They came through it and lived to tell the tales. They were stronger because of it. God never said that we would not face difficulties, but He did say that He would be with us every step of the way. We are told to look to Him with FAITH NOT FEAR. When I look to the Light, the dark shadows go behind me. I remember going up on a plane on a dull grey day. As the plane broke through the dark clouds, the brilliant radiance on the other side was over-whelming. God is still there and still good, but we need a break-through in prayer. When a tree weathers a storm, it’s roots go down deeper and it comes out stronger. We will look back on this storm and be stronger, more resilient and hopefully with a right perspective of the things that really matter as a result.
I’m not trying to minimise this, we still need to take every precaution to follow the guidelines and stay safe…but GOD IS BIGGER THAN THE CORONAVIRUS!
As a nation we have turned so far away from God. Let’s turn our cares into prayers. Psalm 91 would be a great basis for prayer – look it up online if you do not have a bible to hand.
In everything, keep loving each other, keep serving each other and look after your elderly neighbours and relatives. Maybe you could do a shop for someone or pick up the phone for a chat? Enjoy the extra time you have to spend with family…plant some seeds, clean your bike, play some board games… Don’t let fear of tomorrow rob you of the joy of today. God is good, always has been, always will be and He loves you very much!
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-8, The Bible
