Covid-19 Update 1st July 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

Please don’t be alarmed that this week’s email is being sent on a Wednesday! I am sure you are aware that later this week we are due to receive the guidance from the DfE regarding their intentions for schools in September. When it arrives, I’ll try to make sense of it over the weekend and let you know where I think we’ll be and what preparations we will need to put in place to make it a success. As ever, we will do what we can to maximise the number of students we are allowed to have in school and do so as safely as possible.

I have been delighted with the fantastic uptake from families for the Year 7 – 9 Keeping In Touch appointments starting next Monday; we also continue to receive excellent numbers of Year 10 students in school from Monday to Thursday and last Friday’s lessons in Art, D&T and Food were very well attended. Thank you for your continued support in helping to bring a little bit of normality to the lives of our young people.

We are already tweaking our calendar for September but as those tweaks may be subject to change I’ll simply give you some definite dates and a reminder about the car parking situation. I’d like to say this is the last time I’ll need to mention it but we all know that wouldn’t be true. Sorry!

  • JULY 2:                    Virtual Year 6 Parent Evening
  • JULY 6 – 13:             Year 7 – 9 Keeping in Touch meetings
  • JULY 15:                  Virtual Commendation Days
  • JULY 17:                  School closes for students at 2PM
  • AUGUST 20:             GCSE Results Day
  • AUGUST 28:             Year 6 Induction Day
  • SEPTEMBER 1:          INSET day

Work has now started on the site of Mid Cheshire College and we are no longer able to use that space to park. We have had the luxury of extra parking for the last couple of years and now we must fall into line with every other school in having a dire lack of parking facilities except for staff vehicles. Unfortunately I do not have a solution to the parking availability and I must implore you to find alternatives. I must insist that you:

  • Do not park on the service road
  • Do not park in the bus bays – these may be used for dropping children off at the start of the day but not for parking and not for picking up at the end of the day

Staff will be carrying out spot checks at key times and if you are parked in these places you will be asked politely to move. I know you will be as eager as we are to keep all of our children safe.

In Caritas et Veritas,

Mike Holland
