Joining from Primary School

The Local Authority determines admissions procedure for Year 7 students and information regarding this and the Appeal process can be obtained from its office. Once notification regarding High School has been decided, our Pastoral staff visit Primary Schools to meet with students and staff prior to transfer. The purpose of this is two fold: firstly to learn from the class teacher students’ strengths and weaknesses and secondly to meet with the student so they have the opportunity to ask questions and get to know an adult before starting the High School.

Students are invited to two Induction Days held in July and parents attend an evening meeting where they can be introduced to the child’s Form Tutor, who will stay with the student throughout their stay at High School.

Buddies are assigned to each Tutor Group. They meet the students on Induction Days and their role is to support these students throughout their first year.

All Year 7 students are offered a locker for their use. A nominal deposit is required. Students in other year groups can request a locker.
