SPORTS AIMS and PROVISION

The School aims to educate the pupils in and through the use and knowledge of the body and its movement.  We provide a well-planned and clearly defined programme, which will involve pupils in the continuous process of planning, performing and evaluating:

  1. To allow each pupil the opportunity to experience breadth, balance and depth within the PE curriculum framework.
  2. To acquire and develop skills.
  3. To develop positive attitudes to participation in physical activity.
  4. To develop positive attitudes towards safety.
  5. To develop the ability to appreciate effective performance and how to apply these principles to their own and the work of others.
  6. To develop an awareness of socially acceptable behaviour in various aspects of physical activity.
  7. To allow each pupil the opportunity to realise his/her own potential and to improve the attainment of each individual pupil.
  8. To develop purposeful leisure interests.
  9. To provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities for all pupils.
  10. To engender maximum enjoyment.
  11. To link PE with other areas of the curriculum.

“To see young people growing in physical skills, self-confidence and self-worth is a truly enriching experience.
Nowhere in school is it more visible than in PE.” Duncan Goodhew
