LANGUAGES AIMS and PROVISION
Specialist staff deliver a broad range of languages experience from Year 7 to 11. In their first year at Hartford High School, all pupils study a main language. In years 8 and 9 there is usually the opportunity to study a second language.
Our school is unique as we can offer a range of language courses for 14 to 16 year old students. Guidance is offered in the options process so that all pupils are given the most effective route to achieve their full potential.
New courses and enhanced ICT provision are enabling us to deliver the curriculum in increasingly inventive and engaging ways. This is against a backdrop of shrinking provision nationally, in secondary schools. Business and industry are desperately seeking speakers of foreign languages; Hartford pupils are, therefore, destined to become highly employable, successful citizens who are genuinely ‘Fit for the world’.
