Re: Mr Hignett
We have been overwhelmed by your messages of support and encouragement following the tragic passing of Mr Hignett. You will be aware by now that we held special assemblies for students and staff last Monday and this was followed by a simply beautiful evening in school last Wednesday which was attended by 650 current and past colleagues, students and parents. Mr Hignett left a positive mark on everyone he came into contact with and he will be very sadly missed.
Mr Hignett’s family has been so touched by the response of the school community to what has happened and has asked me to pass on their thanks. We are looking at the possibility of this year’s summer concert being held in memory of Mr Hignett and this is something that we will keep you updated on.
I would like as many colleagues as possible to be able to attend Mr Hignett’s funeral and wake which has been arranged for Tuesday 28th March 2017. The family has also asked that some students attend the funeral. To support this, school will close at 1:05pm on this day.
If your child was taught by Mr Hignett please be assured that we are working tirelessly to put staffing in place – we will also keep you updated on this.
We will make arrangements for any student who needs to remain in school until 3:15pm to do so; we will also make arrangements for students who are in receipt of free school meals. Arrangements have also been made for the school buses to depart early.
Letters have been issued to students and reply slips must be returned by Friday 24th March 2017 to confirm whether or not your child will be finishing at 1:05pm. Please click HERE to download a copy of the letter.
